Mossad expresses gratitude to CIA for assisting with Operation Rising Lion

(MENAFN) Israel’s Mossad has publicly thanked the CIA for its cooperation during recent operations against Iran, following the implementation of a U.S.-mediated ceasefire.

In a statement on Wednesday, Mossad Director David Barnea expressed appreciation for the CIA’s collaboration, crediting both the agency and its director for supporting critical decisions made during the campaign. His remarks, reported by AFP, came as details emerged about “Operation Rising Lion,” a covert Israeli mission launched on June 13.

As part of the operation, Israeli agents allegedly smuggled drones into Iran to carry out assassinations of top military commanders and nuclear scientists. These attacks were paired with widespread airstrikes, which Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described as necessary to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

On June 22, the U.S. joined the offensive by bombing three key Iranian nuclear facilities, including the underground Fordow enrichment site.

Barnea claimed that the Iranian threat had been “significantly neutralized” and vowed continued surveillance of Tehran’s nuclear-related efforts. CIA Director John Ratcliffe echoed this sentiment, stating the strikes had “severely damaged” Iran’s nuclear infrastructure. However, U.S. media reports, citing Pentagon intelligence, suggested the damage may have only delayed Iran’s nuclear progress by several months.

Iran has denied having a military nuclear program and labeled the strikes as unprovoked aggression. In retaliation, it launched missile attacks on Israeli cities and targeted a U.S. airbase in Qatar. Despite the hostilities, the ceasefire arranged by Washington took effect on Tuesday and has held so far.
