Qatari Premier Calls for Clarification on Trump's Gaza Proposal

(MENAFN) Qatar's head of government stated on Tuesday that certain elements of U.S. President Donald Trump's proposed solution for Gaza “require clarification and negotiation.”

Speaking to a news network, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani acknowledged that while the initiative aims to fulfill an essential goal by halting the conflict, it still contains aspects that must be further discussed and explained.

He encouraged all involved parties to “look at the plan constructively” and to take advantage of the opportunity it presents to bring an end to the war.

However, the Qatari leader revealed that Doha has not yet obtained a response from Hamas regarding the plan.

“We still do not know Hamas' response to the plan, which requires consensus with the Palestinian factions," he remarked, highlighting the importance of unified agreement among Palestinian groups.

According to Sheikh Mohammed, both Qatar and Egypt—acting as mediators—conveyed to Hamas during a recent meeting that their principal objective is to halt the violence.

“The main focus for Qatar now is how to end the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza,” he explained, emphasizing that his nation's top priority is to stop “the war, famine, killings, and displacement in Gaza.”

He further noted that the ideas presented in the plan are foundational principles that still need to be explored in depth, particularly regarding their implementation.

Finally, the Qatari prime minister stressed that Arab and Muslim nations have made concerted efforts “to ensure that Palestinians remain on their land and achieve a two-state solution."
